Police have recovered the hanging body of Joy Chatterjee( 50), a primary school headmaster from a rented house in Chittagong. His body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his house in Faiznagar area of Karnafuli police station at 2pm on Wednesday (June 29).
The deceased was identified as Joy Chatterjee, headmaster of Charlakshya Government Primary School in Karnafuli upazila. He is the son of Shantipriyo Chatterjee of Guatali area of Patia upazila.Panchlaish Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sadequr Rahman told Bangla Tribune that teacher Joy Chatterjee was rescued hanging from his home and brought to Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 5pm. The doctor who is on duty that time there declared him dead. A relative named Arun Chakraborty took Joy Chatterjee to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He told the Bengali Tribune, “Joy Chatterjee used to live alone in a rented house in Karnafuli Faiznagar area. I don’t know if he committed suicide. “Karnafuli Police Station OC Dulal Mahmud told the Bengali Tribune, “After receiving the news, we recovered the hanging body of a teacher from a room in a three-stored building. “The OC further said that the slain headmaster Joy Chatterjee lived alone in the house. According to his relatives, he is suffering from various diseases including diabetes. He has no wife or children. In 2015, he got divorced from his wife. Besides, a note which found from his room showed that various people would get at least Rs 15 lakh from him. Local Hindu leaders do not want to accept the death of teacher Joy Chatterjee as suicide. They think that some miscreants keep hanged him in the ceiling fan after killed. And they demanded a proper investigation into the incident.
